How Do the Bubble Snakes Form?

As you blow through the water bottle, tiny bubbles are formed in the holes in the socks. All of these tiny bubbles stick together making one large bubble. As you continue to blow, the tiny bubbles continue to stick together and form a long bubble (or snake!).

Supplies Needed

  • Empty water bottle
  • Sock
  • Scissors
  • Bubble solution
  • Plate or shallow tray

How to Make Bubble Snakes

1. Cut the bottom 1/3 off of an empty water bottle.

You may need to use an X-acto knife or heavy duty scissors to cut the bottom of the water bottle. An adult should do this part.

2. Cut a sock in half.

Stretch the sock over the cut end of the water bottle so that it fits snugly.

Put Sock on Water Bottle

If the sock is loose, you can use a rubber band to hold it in place.
