Why Did My Pressed Flower Change Color?

Your flowers may change color as the natural process of the flower drying. Certain types of flowers will lose their color. For example, some of our pink flowers turned white.

How Long Does It Take to Press Flowers?

Pressing flowers in a book will take 1-2 weeks to fully dry.

How to Press Flowers Without Turning Brown?

If your flowers turned brown, it may be due to two reasons. One, this could be the natural change of color the flower turns when drying. Alternatively, if the whole flower has turned brown it may be rotting and due to moisture. Make sure that the flower is dry before pressing and use a paper towel to absorb any moisture during the pressing process.

How to Make Pressed Flowers

1. Collect flowers that you want to press.

You can press any flowers, but daisies and pansies tend to press the best. Also try pressing some leaves and or stems with the flowers.

2. Fold over a piece of parchment paper and place inside a hardcover book.

Add Parchment Paper to Book

3. Add a piece of paper towel inside the parchment paper.

The paper towel will absorb any moisture preventing the flowers from molding.

4. Add the flowers to the paper towel.

Cut off the very bottom of the stem so that the flower can lay flat on the paper.

5. Close the book and add extra weight on top.

We added extra books on top for weight but you can use paper weights or other objects.

6. Let dry for 1-2 weeks.

Depending on the size and how wet the flowers are, they will take 1-2 weeks to dry. If after one week they are not fully dry, continue to leave for another week until dry.

Let press for two weeks

Once your flowers are dry, store carefully as they will be very fragile and can easily break.
